I look forward to welcoming you to the Govans Presbyterian Church. Govans progressive, service oriented church of about 200 people.
We are an inclusive congregation that serves individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Our congregation is multi-ethnic, young and old, professional and non-professional, and multi-cultural. At Govans we emphasize the Biblical promise that in Christ all dividing walls and barriers are broken down and we are all one in Christ (Ephesians 2:14)
We are a congregation involved in demonstrating God's love through ministry and service: from our free community Soul Kitchen to supporting the poorest of the poor in Haiti and Congo; from supporting those in need locally through Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation to supporting refugees in Cairo, Egypt. We are a More Light congregation welcoming all persons into the life and leadership of our church regardless of their race, age or sexual orientation.
Govans is a lively congregation, celebrating life and God's love. Here is a congregation where seekers and questioners are welcome. This is a place where one can explore spiritual growth in an atmosphere of openness and acceptance. This is a place for shaping one's values and for giving our children and youth the tools and the help to shape their own. If you are looking for such a place, then visit us soon.
We have a 45 minute Children and Family Service at 9:00 a.m. Children are expected to be seen AND heard at this service. The music and praise band are upbeat. The message and music are oriented to children and families. Our 10:45 a.m. service is one hour and more traditional with a Sanctuary Choir and pipe organ. Of course, children are still welcome and a short children’s message is offered in addition to a sermon geared toward adult life. There is nursery care available and a Kid’s Club after the children’s sermon for younger kids.
Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. for all ages. We hope to see you on Sunday!
