Youth & Children

Govans welcomes children of all ages and encourages participation as developmentally appropriate. The Children and Family Service is held on Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and is designed to be accessible and engaging for younger children, however children are welcome in 10:45 Traditioinal Service, as well.

The Sunday School classes meet weekly from 9:55 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., between the two worship services. Children and youth participate in mission projects such as collecting food for CARES, our local food pantry. During the season of Lent, children make daily contributions to a coin bank to contribute to One Great Hour of Sharing. Sunday School at Govans begins with the Sundae Sunday Ice Cream Social in September and ends with the All Church Picnic in June.

We also have a middle school age youth group that meets on the first and third Fridays of the month during the school year.  There is also a fellowship group that meets monthly for young families.

And we mean welcome as in, please become a full, participating member of our community and share your gifts at any level of leadership. Everyone is welcome here.

Worship with us Sunday morning, get involved in mission, or contribute in another way. Govans Presbyterian Church is a More Light Congregation, and believes all people are welcome at God’s table, as Christ teaches us. We provide an open and affirming worship experience for the LGBTQ community.
